Happy New Year and welcome to all Clematis Lovers

Open to All - Wednesday, February 1, 2023 - 1 p.m. US/CA Eastern Standard Time

The Society is pleased to announce the first public webinar of 2023.

It's open to all, so members are welcome to invite non-member friends who enjoy clematis!

After a short preface by Dan Long on the benefits of membership, the main presentation is "Clematis texensis: How the Scarlet Lady Changed the World of Clematis", by Linda Beutler and Maurice Horn.

"In a genus of 330+ species found throughout the world, certain clematis are bound to be more influential than others. Clematis texensis, a small-flowered species from Texas with tubular, scarlet flowers, is a perfect example. We will discuss the introduction of this plant into cultivation, pay tribute to the some of the hybridizers from the past who used it to create new clematis, and show how it continues to have an impact on today's breeding programs."

Both Linda and Maurice are very highly regarded clematarians, each with many years experience of clematis. They are also well-known as very interesting yet entertaining speakers. This really is a webinar you will NOT want to miss.

Note, the calling notice also contains comprehensive biographies for both Linda and Maurice. The webinar will, as always, use Zoom software, and members have already been sent a calling notice with the webinar link.
