Thank You to the Ontario Rock Garden and Hardy Plant Society for Supporting Children's Activities at the Toronto Botanical Garden
Exploring the creek camp
The Toronto Botanical Garden would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ontario Rock Garden and Hardy Plant Society for their generous donation to our Children's Activities program. Your support has made a significant impact on the experiences we can offer to our young campers, helping to foster a deeper connection with nature and a love for the environment.
Thanks to your donation, we were able to purchase butterfly nets, which have become a favorite tool for our campers. Throughout the summer, over 400 children used these nets to safely catch and identify various insects, including key pollinators like butterflies and bees. This hands-on experience not only sparked their curiosity but also highlighted the critical role these pollinators play in our gardens. By teaching the campers about pollinators, we were able to emphasize the importance of taking care of gardens and green spaces, fostering an understanding of how their actions can help sustain these vital creatures and, in turn, our ecosystems.
Additionally, the dip nets you've helped us acquire have been instrumental in exploring the ravines, offering campers the chance to discover aquatic life and learn about the importance of these often-overlooked ecosystems. This exploration reinforced the idea that all aspects of nature are interconnected and deserve our care and respect.
Perhaps most exciting of all, your contribution has enabled us to provide terracotta pots for each camper to plant their very own spider plant. This activity not only teaches them about plant care but also gives them a living reminder of their time at the Toronto Botanical Garden to take home and nurture.
Your generosity has truly enriched our program, making it possible for us to offer these unique and engaging activities to so many children. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and commitment to environmental education. Thank you for helping us inspire the next generation of nature enthusiasts and stewards of the earth.
