Bio: Ger runs a small nursery, specializing rare alpines in the Netherlands. His interest in alpines started about 35 years ago, during his first treks in the mountains.
He particularly focused on the high alpine vegetation such as Saxifraga, Androsace, Dionysia and Daphne. However, growing alpines in the lowlands of the Netherlands presented many challenges. Ger and his wife Mariet have traveled extensively in Europe, North and South America, China, New Zealand and Turkey to see plants in the wild. He is currently the president of the Dutch alpine garden Society (NRV). Additionally he is the vice-president of the Saxifraga Society in England.
